Emery Faith Goates was born at 12:33 p.m. on Thursday January 7, 2010. Weighing in at 6 pounds 8 ounces and 18 1/2inches long. With a FULL head of dark hair! We got to the hospital at about 8 a.m. to be induced and delivered at 12:33 p.m. It was a much easier delivery and she is a beautiful little girl!

We are almost There!!!!

36 weeks = out of 40 weeks
Blood pressure = good
Weight = Do I have to say?......good.. I've gained 20 lbs.
Everything is measuring correctly

Here is the most recent picture of her. (Half of her face) You can see her chubby cheek, nose, lips (mouth), and part of her arm. She wasn't being very cooperative that day.
She is measuring right on track and should be weighing about 6lbs right now

I am feeling better my last few weeks. Hallelujah! I still have good and bad days. Who doesn't right. It's been a LONG and rough pregnancy, I have to admit. It could be the fact I'm getting older.....or that I am chasing around to active kiddos all the time. To say least... I'm ready.

We went to the fair as a family one night while it was in town. The girls favorite part was the petting zoo. How many animals (pretty much goats and sheep) can a kiddo feed before it gets old? Don't they ever get full either?! Pace was a little adamant at first and Josie....well she jumped right in to feed them, Jos did get a little P..O..'d when she got too close and one of the animals took her ENTIRE cup out of her hand and ATE it!
They also LOVED watching the little exhibit off chicks hatching out of the eggs, and seeing/petting the baby pot bellied pigs.
We watched a shark encounter tank and the girls got to get in a cage divers use to go under water to view sharks...the thought it was pretty cool.

And....who could leave without getting a funnel cake and caramel apple.

After leaving Grandma & Grandpa Goates home we like to take advantage of the Mirror Lake Scenic by way and go up through the mountains on our trip home.
Our first stop Provo River Falls:
We love going here and try to make it at least once a year. Mike and I used to take and go up to the falls several times for dates. It is so beautiful, you can walk up along the river up to other small falls and enjoy a nice summer day and even take a nice little swim (late summer of course when the water is low).

We went camping for the 4th of July this year out to Flaming Gorge, and to the girls excitement.....we were able to "go frog hunting". Pace thought they were soo...fun and wanted to bring them home. We had to hunt and listening for them to "croak", we scooped them up and let the girls put them in a bucket. They of course took the frogs back to camp to "play" with them for the evening.
P.S. They DID NOT come home with us.

When it started getting close to Josie's 2nd Birthday I kept asking her "What kind of cake/party did she want?" She always answered me with..."Princess Birthday". So who can resist but to give their little princess a Princess Party. She was so excited when I had finished her cake and showed it to her.

Last year at the fair we came home with two bunnies for the girls. So this year late spring time we let them "have babies." We ended up with 11! (when we were investigating on when to whean them we came across a staement that read that lop eared rabbits usually tend to have 5-8 babies in one litter). Uhhh... We got 11! They are the cutest things. We had 5 black, 4 Grey, and 2 grey/black/white(they look like a cottontail).

Our 7 hour trip to the ER

What was a great trip visiting family ended us in the ER for the night.
Josie was on the top of a bunk bed and turned around and fell OFF. She pretty much did a "superman" dive to the floor and landed on a porcelain figurine that was laying on the floor.
At the same time she happend to fall off the Bed our neice Ashley (at the same house we were at) fell while roller blading and broke her wrist. Family Night at Primary Childrens ER!.....to say the least.
Waiting in the ER waiting room....which ended up being 5 hours! Josie was a happy trooper through it all.

Once we got put in a room...the trauma room, do to overflow that night, we had to wait another 1Hr. and 45 min.
Josie still happy. Reminder this is at about 2AM!

She was hilarious, they had to sadate her so she would be calm and content while getting her stitches, when she came out of the sadation (it only worked for about 15 min.) She honestly was so....thirsty she gulped down a gatorade juice box in about 5 seconds.

The Living Aquarium

For a little Spring Break outing we took the girls to the Living Aqarium, they both LOVED...it. They were able to touch starfish, crabs, and other living sea animals, along with petting real Stingwrays! Pace was hesitant at first but we begged her to pet the stingwray and then had to pull her away from the thing when it was time to go.
Pace's favorite to see was of course the Stingwrays and she loved watching the Sea-horses.
Josie's favorite was the Shark tank and the Jelly fish.

One of the girls favorite things to do is to go and visit G'ma & G'pa Goates and go to their Rec Center & Swimming. They absolutely love it! The water is always warm and the indoor water park feel is so much fun for them. We have been visiting quite regularly lately.

Honestly Josie keeps me busy. I call it the "2nd""Child""syndrom". She can never be left by herself to be content, that does mean trouble, or should I say I expect a mess. For three days now she has found a way to be momentarily quiet and messing. These are the Josie being quiet and laughing aftermath........

Day 1:
Sorry no Picture....We were too mad! Josie was sitting on the stairs and quietly playing...so we thought. I came up the stairs to find her sitting in the middle of the long flight of stairs with um about 6 vials of the small jewelry making beads,that I make baby bracelets with, ALL Over.......... Her AND each stair. After cleaning them up and Vacuuming 3 times now....we ARE STILL finding beads.

Day 2 :
Hundreds of buttons spilled all over my ENTIRE entry way and both sets of stairs. Or maybe she was making us a trail on the stairs to the entry way. hmmm....

Day 3:
She took a WHOLE (Brand New) box of Wheat Thins and Poured ALL of them out onto the couch AND floor.

Day 4:
Josie decided to hide somewhere(don't know exactly where) and Eat a GREEN Marker. As you can See:

So I was "doing" Pace's hair for school and realized she NOW has bangs! I found out that while I was gone doing a Jewelery show (Mike had the girls) somewhere in- between Mike cooking dinner and on the phone with the satelite TV tech. (now you can imagine them not really being watched over) this happened. Of course in the beginning it was blamed on Josie! Pace later decided to tell us the truth and her comment was...."it was just a little Snipit"..."I didn't want it ALL pulled back." (she was wearing a ponytail at the time. So...now you see ........she has bangs!

The Girls were chosen by one of their "storytime" librarians to have their picture taken with our City Mayor and the Cat n the Hat. So they were supposed to look like thing 1 and thing 2, but We had to wake them up from their naps to get them ready to go, so when we got their they wanted NOTHING to do with the Blue hair wigs and thing 1 and thing 2 name circles. Still turned out pretty cute though and they were mentioned in our local newspaper.

It was so...CUTE to see Pace's friends join in the fun of it all, and show up in their "Fanciest Attire". (Pace thought it was the greatest) They were quite Entertaining dressed up in their dresses, some in heels, necklaces, pretty hair bows, tiaras, fake earrings, and one or 2 even wore mascara and/or lipstick. I have to say they were all pretty "stinkin' CUTE!"!

Just in case you don’t know about Fancy Nancy, it’s a series of children’s book, written by Jane O’Connor & illustrated by Robin Preiss.

(That's a Fancy way of saying Hello.)
I'm Nancy and I like everything Fancy!
The first book in the series is Fancy Nancy. Our other favorites include Fancy Nancy- Bonjour Butterfly,and Fancy Nancy & The Posh Puppy.

The little girl in the book, Nancy, has to have everything fancy. She loves all kinds of fancy stuff like feather boas, glitter, crowns, bright & bold colors. She’s so unlike her family who Nancy thinks are extra plain.
Nancy, who believes that more is ALWAYS better when it comes to being fancy. From the top of her tiara down to her sparkly studded shoes, Nancy is determined to teach her family a thing or two about being fancy.

Since "Fancy Nancy" is a fad of Pace's right now, for her 4th Birthday, she wanted to have a Fancy Nancy themed Birthday "Soiree" (that's fancy for party). It took me a day or two to come up with a made invite, and of course they were all "decked out" with feathers and glitter! Pace LOVED them! She invited her cute little friends from sunbeams, school, and closest friends. They too had to come dressed in their "fanciest attire" as Nancy would say.

Mike's Birthday was at the end of December (he turned 32 this year) and Pace & Josie wanted to do something FUN for their "Daddy's" Birthday. They wanted him to take "us" sledding. Really how could we resist with the blue skies and temperatures in the 50's! So we enjoyed a whole day packed full of fun sledding. This was Josie's first time to go and I have to say she wasn't to much of a fan..... I don't know... it could have been the whole fact that Mike put both girls on one sled and sent them flying down the hill first thing!! It was pretty hysterical to see their smiles at the top of the hill turn down the faster they picked up speed going downhill. (I hope we don't sound like awful parents)! We tried a couple more times to get Josie to enjoy it going down with each of us but she'd rather watch. Maybe next time out she'll want to do more. We had a blast and we pretty much had to DRAG Paceroo off the hill!!We couldn't decide Who had more fun the girls or Mike and I!! You be the judge!

After a long day of Fun, we returned home to later that night a "Feast". I made Mike some of his favorites for dinner which included Crab, Lobster Tails, and Prime Rib. It was All very delicious and of course we followed with one of Mike's newest favorites I just started making - Pistachio Cake- YUM !

This year the girls got a little spoiled, well I think they get spoiled everday! But hey what can you expect when you start to Christmas shop in August....and...You forget what you had gotten till 2 days before christmas!!
Pace's favorite thing she says she got was her Princess cash register and a pretend baking set for her kitchen. Oh and her Fairy trunk with fairy Dress-ups!
Josie I would definately say her favorite was her "hore-eeee" in translation "Horsey" and her princess piano.
And of course their matching Arm chairs with stools!!

An Early Christmas Present

After a LONG discussion we decided to get Pace and Josie a kitten. This was a HUGE step for us but after going to the pet store and seeing Pace's alligator tears, we gave in and brought the "kitty" home with us. The girls absolutely love her. (They read her stories, play chase, and she gets wrapped up in a baby blanket occasionally.) We named her Jessie after the little cowgirl in Toy Story 2. She is 8 weeks old (really little)and all black and very playful. If she can only survive through Josie tote'n her around (usually by the neck!) she should be able to survive ANYTHING!

Each Year we get the girls a New Ornament for the Christmas Tree. This Year they got little angels that resemble themselves, with the blonde hair and everything! This has been a fun tradition, and the girls love to see & hang up their very "own" ornaments.

The Girls were "Dying" to help decorate the Christmas tree! It's was really funny to see which ornaments they would both pick out to hang and to see the disposition of all of them. Let's just say the ornaments pretty much ended at their hight/reach. I did go back and even the tree out to say the least! Pace & Jos had a great time helping me and they were some fun entertaninment in the mean time.

One of our Christmas traditions we have is going and cutting down our own Christmas tree. This year we went across from Meadow Park and found "the perfect tree". We had a great day and some real family fun setting this tradition.

Grandma Goates Made 8 times the receipe for gingerbread houses this year, and we were there too join in the fun!! Gingerbread Houses are a great Goates tradition to ring in the winter/Christmas season. Grandma Goates is Amazing to keep up this holiday tradition and enjoy doing it with her 29 grandchildren!
It's a little bit of a sugar over-haul, I'm still not sure if Pace and Josie have all the Sugar out of their bodies yet! But how can Anyone resist!
So With mounds of frosting(I am not sure how many batches were made), Gingerbread, and a ton of decorating goodies in hand, we all couldn't resist and jumped in the fun.

Yes, I just celebrated my 31st Birthday this past week. The girls thought it would be great to make me my favorite breakfast! Popeye Pancakes! Which was REALLY one of their favorites. None the less they turned out great and were yummy! Aren't they cute!

We went out that night for dinner and celebrated with family.

" It's a wonderful day mom, it's your Birthday!" (Pace) Isn't she too.... sweet!

Fall to Winter

My FIRST Deer!
Mike had to work so I took the girls and went hunting. I shot this 28.25 , 6x4 deer on opening day with only ONE Shot! I have to say I am pretty proud.

I have to admit, yes there will be another head mount going on the wall! We took it to the Taxidermist last night. We also entered Me into the "Big Buck" contest, and I am sitting. Check it out at www.wyotrucks.com and click on the top box with the deer in it.

Pickeling

So I have come across a new liking in the kitchen....pickeling. I took advantage of the prosperus summer harvest. I spent 2 days pickeling asperagus, eggs, beets, a california mix(cauliflower, celery, carrots, peppers), and pickeling "Dilly Beans"(dilled green beans) I also added in some banana and zuccini bread between "batches". I have to say I have succeed they all taste yummy!!

Ballet Shoes

So Pace wanted to ballet this year. After sitting in my lap and crossing her arms the entire first lesson she has decided to like it and dance. Maybe it helped to get the ballet shoes, leotard, and skirt.... of course.

This week at school Pace is the VIP. We made a poster of pictures of Pace taken this summer and lists of some of her favorite things. We also took a few items to show and tell, Her favorite books, stuffed animals, and her real pet bunny rabbit (MiMi).

Antelope Hunt '08

Mike and I drew South of Rock Springs Antelope tags this year. This was my FIRST Antelope to Shoot, and after chasing him for an hour that morning, I put him down with 2 shots. He didn't end up being as big as we had thought he was!
Mike also got his Antelope the same day, later that afternoon. As you can see Mike's antelope was a pretty nice one and so we sent it to the Taxidermist. Yes, It will eventually be hanging somewhere on the wall.

Pace Goes to Preschool !!

I have to say it was a little hard sending our little "Big" girl off to school. Honestly there were a few tears on both ends. But to say the least Pace was so excited to go to the Young Ones Preschool, and be in the "sparkling yellow stars" class. This is the same School one of her very good friends goes to and went to last year, so that inticed her even more. She picked out her very own "Kitty" backpack and Dora Shoes.

Flaming Gorge - Labor Day Wknd

We had so much fun camping at Flaming Gorge this summer over the Labor Day weekend. The girls absolutely loved riding on the Jet ski and swimming in the lake.

In the Garden

The Girls loved taking advantage of the heat and playing in the backyard in the swimming pools. We hate to see Summer come to an end!!

Bear World

This summer we went to Yellowstone's Bear World, it was so much fun. It's a bit on the smaller scale of things, but you actually drive your car through the bear habitat and actually see the bears up close and personal in their own area. We also we able to view Mountain Goats, Deer, Elk and A very Rare "White" elk. There's a feed truck that goes by every hour or so to feed the bears and We were able to follow right behind them and see ALL the bears come out and eat. They also had a bear cub habitat that we had fun watching the cubs play and chase each other around, a fish and bird feeding pond and a walk through petting zoo with deer, birds, goats, pigs, and other smaller animals. The kids a had a blast and loved to see the animals up close. I think their favorite was the petting zoo. Pace made friends ( and...KEPT feeding) a pot bellied pig, and Josie loved the baby fawns. Unfortunetly we lost the pictures off of the 2nd memory card we had so these pics. were all we had left.

For a couple of days we could not find ANY binkies anywhere!!!!! So when I was changing Josie's bed...... tada...... we found them. We just knew she was hiding them SOMEWHERE!! We counted a total of 12!!!!

Birds

One night while I was at a jewelry show Mike and the girls found the small bird REALLY wet and not able to fly, so the bundled it up in a towel and pace took care of it for the evening, needless to say it dried off and flew away after Pace had gone to bed. She was VERY upset when she got up and it was gone. So A day or 2 later Mike had found a baby pidgeon at work that could not fly YET.... and brought it home! Of course we HAD to take care of it, soon It began to learn how to fly and we had to explain to Pace that it flew away to find it's mommy and daddy, then she was OK with that.

We just celebrated our 10th Wedding Anniversary. Where has the time gone. A Very good friend of ours kept the girls for us so that we could enjoy a night out together. WOW....... 10 years all ready I Love you 'Mikey'.
